In an effort to increase the availability of quality data and improve statistical development on the African region, the African Development Bank Group has launched the Open Data for Africa platform.

The platform provides users such as policymakers, researchers, business leaders and investors, with a wide range of timely and reliable development data on Africa managed by the AFDB and other regional and international partners.

With this access to statistics and data, Open Data for Africa users can visualize socioeconomic indicators over a period of time, utilize presentation ready graphics or create their own, as well as blog and share their work and views with others, thereby creating an informed community of users.

Comprehensive country and regional level analysis can be performed to enhance evidence-based decision making, public accountability and good governance.

The platform will serve as a knowledge centre and also facilitates the collection, analysis and sharing of data on emerging and critical development topics, such as food security, climate change and gender equality.
