Sierra Leones first Special Economic Zone, has now opened it’s doors. The project, a partnership between the government & First Step, a subsidiary of World Hope International, has created a world standard factory facility located near Waterloo.
The Special Economic Zone offers leasing agreements that gives many incentives to companies, including import and export duty exemptions, three-year corporate tax holidays, and on-site customs facilities.
By using a sustainable model, that focuses on leasing space solely to business exporting from Sierra Leone, it makes use of both the countries current low labor costs and abundance of natural resources.
The Special Economic Zone‘s first tenant is Africa Felix Juice, a UK-based firm that will produce pineapple and mango fruit juice concentrate for the international market.
